Amazon Web Services opens its office in Winnipeg

Now, the office of AWS Thinkbox is at The Forks in Winnipeg.

AWS Thinkbox is providing services for entertainment, architecture and engineering industries. The new home of Amazon-owned business is the 13,000-square-foot space in the Johnston Terminal building.

ThinkBox technology is known to be used for creating a lot of famous movies, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The appearance of the company in Winnipeg opens up enormous opportunities for the city.

Ken Zorniak, whose company worked on the Netflix film Next Gen, explained that Thinkbox technology is the technology of a new generation and it significantly changes the time that filmmakers spend on creating computer animation.

Moreover, the emergence of the company creates many new jobs for the residents of the city. Many people working in ThinkBox are alumni of the University of Manitoba. This shows that education here is excellent.

Joshua Burgin, Amazon Web Service's general manager of computer services, said that he got to know the company more than two years ago, and he led the drive to bring the company into the Amazon fold.

Brian Bowman was also present at the ceremony.

The Mayor said that he is delighted that such a company is now in Winnipeg. This is an outstanding occasion for the city. He is sure that the information and communication technology sector will grow and flourish.

Currently, there are about 1,300 information and communication technology companies in the city. They provide jobs to 13,000 Winnipeggers.
