Most of the road crashes and accidents happen because of distracted drivers, people behind the wheel do not pay attention to what is in front of them, but instead are talking on the phone, texting or playing with car stereo system. Such behavior while driving leads to minor or even fatal crashes that can ruin not just your vehicle but also your life forever.
Last Saturday, February 23rd a vehicle smashed a hair salon window hitting a chair one of the customers was in.
The crash happened at about 2:15 p.m., at Hair Affair on south Pembina, said witness Jennifer Holland, and her son was able to dive out of the way. “He was waiting for his brother to finish getting his hair cut when all of a sudden a car was coming through the window… luckily he jumped out of the way and wasn’t hurt,” Holland said.
A teenager, named Tommy, was the only person sitting near the front window but said glass went flying to the back of the store.
Store employees called police right away, also an ambulance, but, thankfully, no one was injured.
Just last week a Winnipeg driver crashed into a bus shelter during a morning commute to work.
The shelter on Portage Avenue and Queen Street is now blocked off with police tape.
Traffic is delayed on westbound Portage Avenue due to the collision. Crews are working on the scene, thankfully, nobody was injured. The investigation still continues, there is no statement yet from Winnipeg Police about the reasons for a crash.
Fellow Winnipeggers please be careful behind the wheel, don’t text and drive, follow the speed limits, the limits there for a good reason, keep our roads safe and easy to drive. Let’s all be responsible drivers and care for each other, so at the end of the day, we can all come back home to our loved ones.
