The crime level is on the rise in Winnipeg for the last couple of years. Almost every day a murder happens in the city.
On Monday, November 5th approximately 6:25 a.m. emergency personnel went to the area of Powers Street and Pritchard Avenue following the report that a man was shot.
A 46-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was a construction worker, he just got off the bus and was walking towards a construction site on Selkirk Avenue.
“It seems to be random,” said one of the victim`s co-workers. Allegedly, someone yelled “Hey,” before the man turned around and a bullet grazed his shoulder. The attacker ran away and people on the street, who witnessed the shooting, called 911.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.
Police said they arrived on the scene within three minutes but investigators weren’t able to connect with the victim until later in the day because he went to the hospital.
The investigation still continues, no one was arrested yet and seems like there are no suspects so far.
