High-speed chase, shots fired

High-speed chase, shots fired

There are regular days for Winnipeg Police officers, there are some days, that looks like a Hollywood police movie with high-speed chases, car crashes, shots fired and unusual suspects.

Last Tuesday morning, October 23rd, two Winnipeg women were arrested after crashing into a police cruiser and a high-speed chase.

Approximately at 12:40 a.m. police officers were driving on the Arlington Street Bridge and came across the stolen vehicle. The Air1 helicopter tracked the vehicle as it sped through north Winnipeg, and police attempted to use tire deflation devices to slow it down. The vehicle continued to travel at high speeds until it stopped in the 100 block of Watson Street where a female passenger got out of the car.

The driver continued moving, apparently trying to get away from police, crashed into a police vehicle, this is when one of the officers had to open fire to stop the car. The stolen vehicle was stopped and the driver was taken into custody. The passenger was found at a nearby building complex and also arrested. No injuries were reported.

Both arrested identified, a 20-year-old Selena Sage Martin and a 27-year-old Jolene Lydia Murdock, suspects remain in police custody and facing multiple charges.
