Vehicle theft is a growing problem in Canada. Most of the cars are located by police, some just found abandoned after a few days, but in some cases, carjackers lead police on a wild chase, still end up arrested or in the ditch.
A vehicle was reported stolen in the beginning of the week from Indian Head, Saskatchewan, Sunday morning Brandon Police, Manitoba noticed a vehicle, matching the description of a stolen one, driving around 1:20 a.m. After police attempted to pull the car over, the driver decided to drive away, but after a brief chase, the car stuck on a river dike.
The young male driver got out and jumped in the river, apparently attempting to swim away, but at some point, he decided to come back, because the water was too cold.
Brandon police arrested the driver and his passenger. They were identified as citizens of Nipawin, Saskatchewan. A 19-year-old driver and a male youth, both in custody now and facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime and fleeing from police.
