Bill Atkinson, a war veteran, is 101 years old and on Tuesday, August 11, he celebrated his 80-Year membership at Winnipeg Y.
He became the member of Winnipeg Y in 1938 and from that time he comes to swim there about 6 times a week.
This man is a real example and a person for imitation for all the residents of the city. His house is one mile from the club, and the man every day passes one mile on the way to the club and back home 6 times a week.
For all 80 years, a man missed only 2 years of attending the club - he spent these two years in the war. In honor of the jubilee, the club gave Atkinson a special towel. His family joined the man to spend this significant day with him.
The director of the club is very happy that there are such people among the members of the club. Bill Atkinson shows that people of all ages and generations can come to the club and take its services.
