According to the testimony of a witness, the SUV driver crashed into the building behind Portage Place around 2:20 p.m. The incident happened on The Promenade (a street north of Portage Place).
The driver broke several concrete pillars and a window on the first floor of a house. The window could not stand the collision with the car. The SUV caused damage to the interior of the apartment. Trying to escape from the scene, the driver crashed into a parked car behind him. As a result of the collision, the parked car got damages on a bumper, windshield and its left side.
According to the police, the total damage caused by the driver is estimated at 200,000. The driver was notified of the violations. The court session will issue a verdict on the final amount for damages. At the moment, there is no exact evidence that the driver was in a state of alcohol or drug abuse. The driver refused to comment on his act. According to the police, the driver could not cope with the management because of a technical malfunction of the car or due to a temporary loss of control over himself.
