Sobeys is one of the largest supermarket chains in Canada. It has more than 1300 supermarkets in ten provinces. It also owns a discount supermarket chain FreshCo.
Recently, the representatives of Sobeys said that this food retailer is going to open two new FreshCo supermarkets instead of Safeway supermarkets in Winnipeg.
FreshCo supermarkets will provide the residents of Winnipeg with the best goods at the best prices. It became known that the opening of the supermarkets will take place in the spring of 2018.
Also, the addresses of the future stores became known: 500–1615 Regent Avenue West and 920 Jefferson Avenue. Safeway supermarkets located in this areas will be closed in autumn 2018 to give FreshCo time to prepare for the opening.
Mike Venton, general manager at Sobeys, said that FreshCo opening will become a joyful event for the whole city. He is sure that new supermarkets will fully meet the expectations and requirements of people living in areas with new supermarkets. He also added that FreshCo will offer Winnipeggers a lot of fresh and qualitative foods at low prices.
Two pharmacies and gas station will work in their usual regimen during construction of supermarkets.
