When the medieval town of Gubbio is stalked by a lone wolf, the entire population is afraid to leave their homes. Facing the horrifying prospect of becoming poor and hungry (and even stinky, since they fear drawing water from the well to bathe), the mayor fetches Francesco: a holy beggar, who is reputed to have a wondrous way with animals.
The antics that ensue for survival unite young and old, rich and poor, with a heart-warming message of human togetherness for the holidays.
