Severe thunderstorm moves through southern Manitoba

August 1st the Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the City of Winnipeg.

The warning included information about favourable conditions for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail, and torrential rain.

Several areas of Manitoba experienced severe weather. A number of severe storms swept through southern Manitoba Wednesday evening.

Luckily for Winnipeggers, the storms didn’t come close to our city!

Heat warnings in place

More hot and muggy weather is in the forecast for the rest of the week for southern Manitoba.

Parts of southwestern Manitoba, including Virden, Souris, and Boissevain are under a Heat Warning. Daytime highs are expected to hover around 32 degrees, with humidex values around 38 degrees.

Southwestern Manitoba could also see more storms Thursday and Friday.

Winnipeg should see a mostly clear sky Thursday, with a forecast high of 30 degrees.
