Flood is always dangerous, sometimes people are forced to evacuate to safety from their own houses.
A building in the 1000 block of Portage Avenue was taped off as crews cleaning up a flood that took place early Monday morning.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews received reports of flooding inside a Portage Avenue building near Sherburn Street. People called for help around 5 a.m. and were unable to shut off the water to the building.
Manitoba Hydro also responded to the call as the flood was beginning to threaten the building’s electrical supply.
The residents, who had to evacuate were temporarily relocated with help from Winnipeg Transit. Thankfully everyone was evacuated safely with no injuries. As of now, the cause of the flood is unknown, after the cleaning crew are done, the investigation will be conducted to determine the reasons that led to such an outcome.
