GO JETS GO!
The Winnipeg Jets playoff run starts on April 10 and the city is getting ready for big fun.
If you want to visit the first two Whiteout parties this year, you should buy a ticket. The ticket’s price is 5$. The city authorities decided to make a paid entrance to the parties in order to limit the number of people there and to avoid any possible incidents.
If you have a ticket to the game, then you have the opportunity to attend the party for free.
Several streets will be closed on Wednesday and Friday. They are: Southbound Donald Street between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue, Graham Avenue between Carlton Street and Garry Street. Northbound Smith Street will be closed to through traffic between St. Mary Avenue and Portage Avenue.
It is also worth remembering that if you decide to leave the party, you will not be able to return. Inside you will find smoking areas as well as toilets. However, smoking pot is not permitted.
Also, people are not allowed to bring alcohol drinks with themselves. If they want to have a drink or to eat, they will find food trucks and alcohol vendors there. All visitors of Whiteout parties will have to pass bags checking for the presence of prohibited substances and metal objects.
Whiteout parties actively collaborate with local charity organizations, so all proceeds from the tickets will go to the United Way.
Winnipeggers will also see four Royal Canadian Air Force CT-155 Hawk training jets. They will fly over Bell MTS Place and the street party in order to celebrate the team’s first home game of the playoffs. Do not miss! The jets will fly at 7 p.m.
While the city is preparing for the celebration, the students from Ecole Luxton School decided to support their favourite team and wrote letters to the Winnipeg Jets. Children wrote that all players need to eat healthy foods because this is the key to their success. They offered their ideas on how the players can boost energy. For example, they can drink smoothies or energy drinks just before the game.
In addition, the children asked the players to call their parents before the game. This will give them the strength and motivation to win.
The whole city is hoping that Jets will bring home the Stanley Cup. We also wish them good luck!
