The winter is over and it is time for skiers and snowboarders to pack away their gear. So many people look forward to springtime and the outdoors activities and family fun with a new season.
But there is the last chance for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy the snow and take one last ride of the season! Manitoba’s Stony Mountain Ski Area gave customers a final opportunity to enjoy winter and challenge their skills.
On Sunday, March 31st the event started, the main competition was kicked off approximately at 1:30 p.m. The ski park, located eight miles north of Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway, operates six runs and two lifts during the ski season.
The challenge for skiers is to make it across the pond of ice water without getting stuck in the middle. As many of the contestants showed, that is not an easy task to stay dry.
Every year dozens of Winnipeggers take part in this competition and it is not just for the win, people just here to have fun and enjoy the snow for the last time before the spring melts it away.
The Slush Cup isn’t just for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The competition has been going on for about 20 years, and organizers say it’s the best way to end the season.
It was a great end of the season, many Winnipeggers and guests of our city participated or just came to cheer and support their friends. Great competition, good time for a family and friends getaway fun outdoor activities and, of course, food.
Hope you had a chance to enjoy this great event at Manitoba’s Stony Mountain Ski Area and do not forget to plan a trip for the next year!
