Faith Nickel, the 16-year old girl from Moosehorn, have gathered about two thousands of socks and other warm clothes and accessories for homeless people living in Winnipeg.
Winter is getting harsher and it is very difficult for homeless people to live outside in such cold weather. Therefore, a teenager from Moosehorn decided to help poor people who live on the street. The girl collected 1,946 new pairs of socks and about 100 warm clothes including gloves, mittens, boots and winter jackets.
Last week the girl brought boxes of warm clothes to Siloam Mission.
"It always feels good to know that you're helping people that need help," Nickel said. "It's just the right thing to do at Christmas time and in winter when it's so cold."
Three years ago, the girl participated in an event that changed her life.
"I decided that I wanted to help people," she said.
In the first three years, she collected about 900 pairs of socks, but this year the number of items brought was impressive
"The winters are really bad here and it's sad to see everyone out on the streets," the girl explained.
She added:
"Socks are what lots of people need so I thought I could just give them what I can."
"It's young people like Faith that truly make our city — and the world — a better place for everyone!" Siloam tweeted after receiving winter clothes.
