Winnipeg woman assaulted 3 police officers with knife

As per Winnipeg Police, there is a spike in meth-related crime incidents, like property theft, residential break-ins, unreasonable anger towards each other (meth users) and other people around them, violent attacks, some ending up in lethal outcomes for victims.

Last weekend the incident occurred in Winnipeg, which resulted in three police officers getting injured with a knife from the suspect they were arresting.

Approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17th, officers responded to reports of a person allegedly under the influence of meth and vandalizing vehicles in the 700 block of Stella Avenue.

When arrived at the scene police officers located the suspect and proceeded with the arrest. While attempting to arrest the woman, police say three of the four responding officers were assaulted and suffered injuries from a knife.

A 27-year-old Winnipegger, Charmaine Cheyanne Grenier has been charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

The arrested woman remains in police custody and the investigation still pending, more information will be presented in the official Winnipeg Police statement later.

Methamphetamine and crack are a very real problem in Canada, the majority of people involved are youth and older teenagers. There is a study conducted by Winnipeg Police department about how people on meth are no longer productive, so they have to find other ways to get money to fuel their addiction and get more drugs. People on meth turn to pity theft and other, more serious crimes, which sometimes lead to officers being injured while on duty. Winnipeg Police and city official are working on securing the funds, workforce and other resources to overcome the crime in the city, to make it a better and a safe place to work and to live in.
