Halloween is already near, people should remember not only about having fun but also about their and their close people’s safety.
Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service decided to share some safety tips.
First of all, they recommend wearing bright costumes and having a glow stick or a flashlight. The Police also do not recommend wearing masks, as they can prevent a person from seeing well. Costumes should not be worn too long, especially if they are heavy, hot or hard to breathe.
Parents should discuss in advance the children's route so that it is built through well-lit streets and children avoid dark alleys and areas.
After the children return home, parents should inspect what the children brought: check the expiration date of sweets, leave all closed candies and be careful with homemade treats.
Pumpkins should not be placed too close to the exit from the house in order to have quick access to the street in case of any incident.
