Last Thursday, October 18th after a brief chase Winnipeg Police stopped and arrested a man, who is now facing multiple charges.
Police officers spotted a vehicle that looked like the one reported stolen a few days ago and followed the car. With the help of the AIR1 helicopter and the Tactical Support Team, the vehicle was stopped on the Arlington Street Bridge. The driver rammed a police car but was taken into custody. The officers that were involved in the pursuit and arrest of the suspect were injured, two of them were delivered to a nearby hospital for treatment.
After searching the suspect`s vehicle police found a shotgun with a defaced serial number and 18 shotgun shells. Later was uncovered that the vehicle was reported stolen since October 12th. Skylar Andrew McPherson, 25, was charged with possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possessing a prohibited or restricted firearm, tampering with the serial number of a firearm and driving with an invalid license.
The suspect is well known to police, he has a number of warrants on his name, he is wanted for robbery and for failing to comply with probation. McPherson now is in police custody, the investigation still ongoing, charges will be brought up soon, also counting his prior and previous charges, he will be facing a big penalty and some substantial jail time.
