Manitoba legislature Progressive Conservative member made an inappropriate offer toward the woman working in the party’s caucus but he is not going to step down.
Cliff Graydon decided not to comment on his words that he said during a recent dinner. The problem was that there was not any free chair for that woman at the meeting and he offered her to sit on his lap. As it became known, the problem was solved positively within a few hours after the incident and the woman was quite pleased with the decision.
However, he may receive sanctions even with the possible expulsion. It will become known when the legislature resumes its work this month. Graydon said that he did not intend to comment on what had happened, because, in his opinion, the problem was solved and the issue was closed. He also stated that there was no reason for asking any questions about his leaving.
Graydon is slightly over 70 but he is preparing for re-election in 2020. The man had some health problems, but he stated that they were not serious enough to make him change his decision on his re-election in 2 years.
The details on how the issue was resolved and what was done for the woman are not disclosed.
Caucus chair Wayne Ewasko stated that such comments and offers are not relevant in the provincial legislatures, and all measures have been taken to solve the problem according to Manitoba’s human rights policy.
We want to remind you that it is not the first case when Graydon was accused of inadmissible comments. At the beginning of the year, he said negative things about immigrants, calling them drain on society. He also retweeted several posts about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau where some people called him a traitor, a scumbag and a disgrace. After a while, he deleted all the posts and apologized publicly.
