Deputy minister for Manitoba Agriculture will be awarded for her work on improving relations between Manitoba and Japan.
The awarding ceremony was organized by Consul-General Shigenobu Kobayashi and it will take place in Winnipeg on Friday.
Agriculture Minister informed about such a decision on September 20. T he minister said that he personally, the city, the province and the whole Canada are very proud of what the woman is doing to improve relations with Japan. Her impressive work can not remain without special attention.
The award shows how Dory's work is valued not only in her native country but far beyond its borders.
Dori Gingera-Beauchemin is known for her 4-H Manitoba– Japan Homestay program. Under this program, more than 700 Japanese students were able to come to Manitoba and to settle in families of local residents since the 1970s of the last century.
They were able to expand their knowledge about the culture, traditions, cuisine and national heritage of the inhabitants of Manitoba. In addition, more than 200 students from Manitoba are given the opportunity to go to Japanese families for two weeks every second year.
