As it became known, two men committed more than 130 thefts from liquor stores in Winnipeg.
The police expressed an opinion that men sell stolen alcohol via the Internet and to their friends. However, the police also stated that men do not know each other and their thefts are not connected.
One of them committed about 50 thefts during the last 6 months. He just took one or two bottles in the store and went quietly, not trying to pay. He was arrested on September 10.
The second man committed about 80 thefts during the last 5 months. He also took one or two bottles and just left the store without saying a word. He was arrested on September 11.
According to official data, in 2018 more than 1,000 thefts were committed from liquor stores. Unfortunately, the Police do not have official data for 2017 to make comparisons in the statistics. But, as the Police say, in 2018 the number of thefts increased. Only in September there were a little less than 100 thefts.
The number of crimes is growing, but the Police are sure that all criminals will be found because virtually all shops are equipped with an excellent video surveillance system.
