Norwood Outdoor Pool will be closed.
Winnipeg plans to replace Norwood Outdoor Pool with other facilities after the public services department decided that it would be too expensive to maintain a 56-year-old water facility.
The Protection and Public Service Committee will consider a recommendation on the closure of an old outdoor pool and a pool for children and creating of a new territory with a gaming structure, picnic tables, and a beach volleyball court on September 11.
Due to the report, this work will cost $1.3 million, which compensates high operating costs due to a rise in groundwater levels in Norwood.
It is known that it will cost about $500,000 to maintain the pool, and it takes from $4 to $6 million to replace it. In St. Boniface there are four other outdoor pools - and only six in the rest of Winnipeg.
