Environment Canada warns all Manitoba residents of a high level of air pollution in the province. The situation is caused by numerous forest fires in Alberta and British Columbia.
Ecologists warned that the smoke from fires should be waved during the day. Doctors strongly recommend children, middle-aged people, as well as all those who suffer from any respiratory and lung diseases to stay at home until the problem is solved.
There can be several consequences because of the smoke. For example, people can have a dry cough, eye irritation, headaches and rapid breathing.
All residents of Manitoba are recommended to limit their time on the street during the day.
People who are concerned about the situation as a whole or about their health can ask for help in Health Links by calling 204-788-8200.
