On Wednesday the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority proclaimed that nine operating roomsin St. Boniface Hospital were closed due to air system problems. According to the statement, repair work will be finished at the end of the week.
However, the closure of the operating room will affect the general work of the hospital, because several surgeries were planned to be done in these operating rooms during the week.
The chief health operations officer with the WRHA commented on the situation and reported that all urgent surgeries, for example, for people with heart problems, will continue to function.
Other Winnipeg hospitals increase the number of rooms to place people who are going to be operated during the next few days. A number of surgeries will be done when all aeration problems are solved in St. Boniface Hospital.
5 out of 14 operating rooms are in working mode and are available for urgent surgeries.
